Kevin Warsh-Led Fed Reserve Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged After High-Stakes Meeting

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday left its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 3.5%-3.75%, marking the fifth consecutive meeting without a rate change as policymakers continued to assess an uncertain economic outlook.
Fed officials cited a mixed inflation picture, with June data showing inflation eased sharply even as escalating conflict in the Middle East pushed global energy prices higher. Policymakers are also evaluating the potential impact of the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence on inflation.
The decision exposed growing divisions within the central bank. While most policymakers voted to keep rates steady, Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari and Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan dissented, supporting a quarter-point interest rate hike instead.
The split came as Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh continues to navigate conflicting economic signals, with recent policy meetings seeing increasingly frequent dissents as officials weigh the balance between controlling inflation and supporting employment.
