New Delhi: The Union budget this year likely to be presented on Sunday. This however won’t be the first time that union budget is going to be presented on Sunday. Sources said that as the date to present the budget had been February 1 since many years and with date falling on a Sunday, budget is going to be present on the same day.
While a formal decision is yet to be taken in Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, many in the government believe that the budget will be presented on Sunday , February 1.
Sources also said that there is opinion within the government that if presented on Sunday, many people are likely to watch.
“With many in the houses on the day, it is likely that more and more people will watch it and know what is bringing for them that affects their pockets. On rest of the days there is a rush for office and work,” added the source.

In 2025, February 1 fell on a Saturday, the budget was presented on the same date.
Sources also said that Budget session will start with Presidential address followed by Economic Survey.
Sources stated that it is going to be a working weekend with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the Parliament.

The dates however got the same are yet to be decided by the committee that is headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Sources in the ministry said that pre-budget consultations are still undergoing. Sources believe that in the upcoming budget, there is going to be a lot of focus on manufacturing sector.
The ministry has invited suggestions to make it a more inclusive budget.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all NDA MPs to bring in suggestion from constituents on budget in previous session.
