Nadir Godrej To Step Down In August; Pirojsha Set To Take Charge At Godrej Industries

A major leadership transition is underway at Godrej Industries Ltd, as veteran leader Nadir Godrej prepares to retire from his role as chairman. He will move into the position of chairman emeritus, making way for Pirojsha Godrej, currently chairperson-designate, to formally take over as chairperson of both the group and the company from August 14. The transition marks a Major generational shift within the broader Godrej Industries Group, which also includes key listed entities such as Godrej Agrovet Ltd and Astec LifeSciences Ltd.
Nadir Godrej has already stepped down as chairperson and non-executive director of Astec LifeSciences, effective April 13. He is also expected to exit board positions at Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties in August, signalling a comprehensive handover of responsibilities.
The company acknowledged Nadir Godrej’s long-standing contribution, stating, “Nadir Godrej has played a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s growth, values, and global presence over several decades,” in its stock exchange filing.
Reflecting on his journey, Nadir Godrej said, “It has been a privilege to serve the Godrej Industries Group over several decades and to work alongside exceptional colleagues who have built this institution with integrity and purpose. I am confident that the Group will continue to grow from strength to strength under the next generation of leadership, while remaining deeply anchored in its values.”
New Leadership Steps In With Renewed Vision

Taking over the reins, Pirojsha Godrej stressed continuity alongside ambition. “This moment is both a responsibility and a privilege,” he said, and added, “We inherit a remarkable legacy built over generations, and our task now is to build on it with ambition while staying true to the values that define us.”
The reshuffle extends beyond the top role. Burjis Godrej will step in as chairperson of Godrej Agrovet and join the board of Godrej Industries as a non-executive director from August 14. He has stepped down as managing director of Astec LifeSciences but will continue on its board in a non-executive capacity.
“I am excited to take on this role at Godrej Agrovet and to build on the strong foundation that has been established. Our focus will be on building a stronger, more resilient Godrej Agrovet — driving sustainable growth while sharpening execution across our businesses,” he said.
Leadership changes are also underway at Astec LifeSciences. Vishal Sharma, CEO of Godrej Chemicals, has been appointed chairperson with immediate effect. Meanwhile, Arijit Mukherjee, currently COO, will take on the role of executive director.
