Adani Power reported a sharp improvement in its financial performance for the second quarter of FY27, with consolidated profit after tax (PAT) climbing 142 per cent year-on-year to Rs 7,019 crore. Revenue for the quarter increased 39 per cent to Rs 19,951 crore, supported by higher electricity sales and improved tariff realisations amid strong power demand.
The company attributed the significant rise in profitability to increased power consumption, higher tariffs under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) following a steep rise in imported coal prices, and better earnings from merchant power sales.
In a statement, Adani Power said, “This growth was driven by higher volumes on account of a significant increase in power demand and higher PPA (Power Purchase Agreements) tariffs due to a sharp increase in import coal prices, and improved merchant realisation.”
The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) also recorded healthy growth, rising 46 per cent year-on-year to Rs 8,743 crore during the quarter.
Adani Power’s consolidated revenue reached Rs 19,951 crore in the July-September quarter of FY27, compared with the year-ago period. Its EBITDA increased 46 per cent to Rs 8,743 crore, reflecting stronger operating performance.
On a continuing-operations basis, the company’s revenue stood at Rs 17,528 crore, while EBITDA came in at Rs 6,321 crore during the quarter.
The company said electricity demand across PPA-backed supplies, merchant sales and short-term markets contributed to higher power generation and sales volumes compared with the corresponding quarter of FY26.
“Higher power demand under PPAs as well as in the merchant and short-term markets drove higher volumes in Q2 FY27 as compared to Q2 FY26,” it said.
