Stock Market Holiday Today: Are NSE And BSE Closed For Ganesh Chaturthi?

The Indian stock markets will remain closed for trading today on Monday (September 14) on the account of Ganesh Chaturthi. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE will have no trading or settlement in stocks, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments.
Both the BSE and NSE saw no trading for three consecutive days in September, from Saturday, September 12 to September 14 as the first two days were weekends while the third day is an official trading holiday.
As per the BSE list of stock market holidays 2026, trading in the Equity Segment and Equity Derivative Segment will remain closed, giving investors a break from the usual buying and selling on Dalal Street.
Trading will resume on the next working trading day after the holiday, subject to the exchanges’ regular schedule.

What are the remaining holidays for 2026?
In 2026, the remaining market holidays are Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Dussehra on October 20, Diwali-Balipratipada on November 10, Prakash Gurpurb on November 24 and Christmas on December 25.
The regular equity market session will begin at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 15, with the pre-open session starting at 9 AM.
The Indian Stock Markets on Friday witnessed battle between the Bulls and Bears as the Dalal Street witnessed volatility throughout the day with Sensex swing over 600 points, and Nifty closed near 23,400.
At close, Sensex ended 120.83 points or 0.16% higher at 74,781.76, while Nifty ended 79.7 points or 0.34% higher at 23,398.10. Nearly 1,727 shares advanced, 2,293 shares declined, and 171 shares were unchanged.
On the markets performance, Choice Broking said, Persistent selling pressure kept the index under pressure through most of the week, dragging it to a weekly low of 23,231.40 on the last trading day. Strong buying interest emerged from the lower levels, helping the index recover partially before it settled at 23,398.10, down 499.60 points (-2.09%) for the week. Heightened geopolitical uncertainty also weighed on overall market sentiment and contributed to the risk-off tone.
