Cadbury Maker Mondelez India Removes Misleading Health Claims After FSSAI Notice

Mondelez India, the manufacturer of Cadbury chocolate withdraws ‘misleading’ health and nutrients claims from products after FSSAI notice.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said the major Food Business Operators (FBOs) have taken prompt corrective action following notices issued by the authority.
Measures include withdrawing misleading label claims and revising product packaging to ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance.
In case of Mondelez India Foods Private Limited, the violations observed by the FSSAI were misleading health claims, and nutrient comparative claims.
As per the corrective action taken, the FBO has withdrawn the claims and advertisement from e-commerce platforms and ensured compliance, FSSAI said in a post on X.

Other companies taking action:
FSSAI has said the Vichi Agro Products Pvt Ltd was misleading the trade name. In terms of the corrective action, FSSAI said the response from Flipkart was received, wherein the FBO mentioned that he has delisted the product from his platform.
Amway India was also in the list for using the misleading term 100% in the name as “100% Pure Coconut Oil”. This FSSAI said was the violation of Section 23 & 24 of the FSS Act 2006, Regulation 4(1) of the Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Regulation, 2018 read with Advisory (Discontinuation of the term ‘100’ on Food product labels and related promotional materials).
As a corrective action, Amway India submitted a compliance response confirming that it has voluntarily removed the term “100%” from its product packaging and promotional materials in accordance with the FSSAI advisory and confirmed that old stock has been discontinued from sales channels.
Revised packaging without the “100%” claim has been finalized, is currently in production, and will roll out progressively from September/October 2026 onwards along with updated website listings.
